James was 19 years old in 1934 and was student in the state of Washington when he returned into National Guards. He stayed there some years and became Sergeant in 1940 in the Army of American Infantry.
In 1942, he becomes Lieutenant and commands the officers of the Company K of the 378th Infantry Regiment of the 95 ID US. In 1944, he and his company were transferred by air mail in England and land in France in August. James was for a while for " Red Ball Express " then he participated in the battles of Metz where he become Captain and received from medals for his bravery. A little while later,he was wounded and successful Purple Heart. He was Officer

Commander to Amanvillers then to the German front to Lisdorf then Ensdorf. The compgnie also participated in the Battle of Belgium. At the end of the war, he became dependent on an English Army until August 22, 1946. He received the Croix de guerre with star of silver of the French Presidency under the General de Gaulle. James stayed on the German territory as troop of occupation.
In January, 1948, he is named Chief warrant officer and is sent back dismissed in the USA to become an adviser in Staat New Hampshire for National Guard.
From 1952, James went to fight in Korea until 1954 then became Instructor of the Korean officers. From 1954 to 1958, He was moved in the Leonard Wood Fort in the Missouri or he received the new rank of Lieutenant-colonel. The last Base was in San Francisco before its demobilization.
